FAQ's
Here are some frequently asked questions to think about. If you have any questions, give us a call. Milk is here to help.
Will I need to upgrade my electrical panel if I install an EV Charger
Older Homes: If your electrical panel is rated for 100 amps or less, it might not have enough capacity to handle the additional load of an EV charger, which typically requires a dedicated 30- to 60-amp circuit.
Newer Homes: Panels rated at 200 amps or higher are often better equipped to accommodate an EV charger, depending on your current electrical usage.
Level 1 Chargers: Plug into standard 120V outlets and usually don’t require a panel upgrade. They’re slower and may still need a dedicated circuit.
Level 2 Chargers: Require a 240V outlet and a dedicated circuit, which often means you’ll need more panel capacity if your existing system is maxed out.
Consider what else your panel is powering (HVAC, appliances, pool equipment, etc.). Adding an EV charger could exceed the total available capacity.
Electrical Load Calculation: An electrician can calculate your panel’s capacity and determine if an upgrade is necessary.
Panel Upgrade Options: If needed, you could upgrade to a higher-capacity panel or install a sub-panel for the EV charger.

Can I put my TV power cord in the wall
Running a regular TV power cord inside your wall is generally not safe, and is against electrical codes in many areas. Power cords for TVs and other devices are typically designed for external use only and are not rated for in-wall installation.
Standard TV power cords lack the necessary insulation for in-wall use, which increases the risk of overheating and potential fire hazards. If the wire is damaged, it could create a short circuit inside the wall, posing a significant fire risk
Many building codes prohibit running standard power cords inside walls. For in-wall wiring, only certain types of cables, rated for in-wall use (like Romex or in-wall-rated power kits), meet safety codes.
Do I need Wi-Fi for a smart lock
Not necessarily. Some smart locks work with Bluetooth only, which allows proximity-based control without Wi-Fi. However, Wi-Fi is needed for remote access when users are away from home
